While planning for a recent outing I visited a local food shop. They offered me a commission on sales if I brought a group by to shop in their store. I would appreciate it, but I found the exact same products in another shop a few blocks away for less. How would you feel if I took you to the first shop, you bought something there, and then you saw the same thing for less around the corner?
A local friend of mine the other day requested some help with setting up his internet service. He had been living in a different city and recently relocated back to Valencia.
He asked if he could transfer his service contract with the same company from his former residence to his new residence. His contact said no and went on to describe the other companies that offer internet service and made a recommendation for one company in particular.
Later my friend discovered that in fact he was able to transfer his service contract with the same company. His contact said it wasn’t possible because he was going to earn a commission from one of the competing companies if he signed up my friend.
